The summer of 2017 was very tough for the citizens of Peru. They had faced major drought which resulted in many people losing their lives because of the extremely hot weather. Sadly, many stray animals died as well because of the inability to find water.
A video that emerged at the time, of a homeless dog carrying a discarded bucket and bagging passersby of Lima, the capital of Peru, to give him some water had crushed the hearts of many. Although it took place some years ago, it has been shared again recently to remind people of what strays are going through each day on the streets.
Luckily, a resident that noticed the heartbreaking sight poured some water into the bucket, but the poor dog hoped he would get some more from other people as he was extremely thirsty.
One passerby stopped to pet him on the head and tried to make him let go of the bucket so he could drink the water, but the dog refused because he thought they wanted to take it from him.
The sad reality is that there are millions of other homeless animals like this dog that beg for food and water every single day. Fending for themselves is hard, so we should all make sure to lend a helping hand whenever we see them struggling.
